John Marzano Half Ball Tournament

marzano_headshotJohn Marzano was a South Philadelphia native and hometown hero. From college star, to major league catcher, and finally as an analyst, his career was successful and rich. But more than his career was his connection to the neighborhood he grew up in, and never left behind. Referred to endearingly by his community and family as “Johnny Marz” his memory will be honored forever. The John Marzano Half Ball Tournament, sponsored by Triple Play Sports, is a way to remember his legacy with one of his favorite pastimes.Half Ball is a street game special to Philadelphians. Played in close quarters, half ball provides the excitement of baseball without breaking windows of neighboring row houses.Teams can enter this single elimination tournament for $100 with all proceeds benefiting the Marzano Family Education Fund. Bats and balls are provided, and each player receives a free Tournament Commemorative T-Shirt from Triple Play Sports.
