Driving
The market is within minutes of major highways and bridges into Philadelphia, such as:
- I-95: Columbus Blvd exit
- Ben Franklin Bridge: 8th St or Vine St exits
- Schuylkill/Vine Expwys: 8th St exit
- Walt Whitman Bridge: 7th St exit
There are two official Italian Market parking lots:
- Ellsworth St between 9th & 10 Sts
- Carpenter St between 9th & 10th Sts
Parking is reasonably priced at $5/day.
Additional pay-lots are located at:
- Christian St between 8th & 9th Sts
- Washington Ave between 8th & 9th Sts
- Washington Ave between 9th & 10th Sts
Last but not least, two-hour parking is free on neighboring streets.
Public Transportation
Bus lines run along 8th, 9th, and 11th Sts.
A subway stop is located at nearby Broad & Federal Sts.

Walking
The South 9th Street Italian Market is conveniently nestled in South Philadelphia and the beginning of the East side Center City, in the Passyunk Square and Bella Vista Civic Districts. It is within a short walking distance from numerous other tourist attractions such as Olde City, South Street, City Hall and major hotels. Its surrounding Bella Vista and Passyunk Square neighborhoods are family-oriented and residential.
